T Ball Games
Athletics 23 V Cubs 25
Mets 15 V Yankees 20
HOW the Cubs managed to clinch this one is a mystery to me as all of the Athletics were playing better than ever before and very nearly had 3 outs in a row. Considering that nearly the whole team only discovered teeball in May I think their progress has been magnificent and they should all be very proud of themselves.
The Cubs 'butt danced' their way to a 1st victory of the season against the Athletics. Star performers for the Cubs was Claire Amaya and Owen Casey for some fine work in the field.

Mets Report
This weekends game between the Mets and the Red Sox was always set to be an explosive meeting of two great teams, having won the first three games of the season the pressure was on us to continue our winning streak and make it four out of four.
The first three innings were hard fought with us coming up 15-0 due to some outstanding batting and fielding from the team, this allowed us to try some of the team in new positions which unfortunately allowed the Sox to claw back some runs to end the innings 1-5, this meant that we had to bring in the big guns for the 5th which is where apathy set in and the team sat back on its heels having thought they had a win in the bag, alarmingly, this let the Sox claw back a respectable 10 to our 7 through a distinctly mediocre display of fielding on our part.
However, the Mighty Mets have again shown their abilities to grab a win and in doing so learnt that a game is not over until the very last ball has been played.
There were however some great moves, Zoomie (1st) and Shabs (pitcher) getting a double play along with two blinding catches at second by Smiffy, Podman getting a great tag out at third and a fantastic out by JK as catcher. Hamster, Spreaders, Homezone, Ellz, Spaniel and Big Chris all put on some fantastic performances throughout the game in the field and The Gazelle, Kung fu Panda and Maxi all started to show off their developing skills at bat.
All in all a great game and as usual a big round of applause for our dedicated ( and loud) fan base who themselves showed their catching prowess in the foul area, batting helmets will be provided at the next game.
Red Sox Report
A great game this week. Unfortunately the final score was not one hoped for by the Redsox.
In the first innings, despite some great fielding by the Redsox, including a catch by Christian Taylor Ferre (pitcher), and a spectacular game play by Christian and Austin Harwood-Stamper (catcher) to tag a second Mets batsman out. Jake and Zak Turnbull also did some great fielding and game play in an attempt to get a Mets batsman out at second only to be foiled by the rule of tagging if it was an unforced run. Despite some good batting efforts no runs were scored by the Redsox.
More good fielding was shown by the Redsox in the second innings with a great catch made by Harry Horwood (pitcher). Again the Mets scored a maximum 5 runs. Although again Redsox failed to score in this innings there was some good batting Emma Naylor and Jared Cox.
The third innings again saw the Mets scoring a maximum 5 runs even though the Redsox played well with some good team work. An out was achieved after the ball was fielded by Christian (pitcher) and quickly thrown to Ally Kirkman (1st base). Good outfield work was done by Max Dodd, Emma and Zak. Despite some fine efforts from Austin, Harry, Emma and Christian again the Redsox were dismissed having a 0 score.
In the fourth innings the Redsox finally saw some light and dismissed the Mets with only 1 run scored. Jake Turnbull (this weeks MVP) made two great plays to dismiss two Mets on 2nd base. Now with the possible turn in fortune the Redsox saw some reward for their batting effort and scored 5 runs. Some superb batting skills were shown by Charlie Dineen, Max Dodd and Jared and Ally.
In the fifth and final innings the Mets scored 7 runs before the Redsox managed to dismiss a third batsman by another catch by Christian. As the Redsox took the field they had everything to play for and nothing to lose. They showed great grit and determination and scored a massive 10 runs, most of which were scored after two players were out.
The whole Redsox team played with conviction and determination. Even when they were losing they kept on battling making it a great game to watch.
Cubs report
1. Great catching from Megan Field.
2. Harry Law being so switched on with anticipating plays and his
coverage of the field.
3. Eddie Law getting stuck into the Catcher's position with great
gusto.
I know they all tried hard and a few felt dejected afterwards because of
missed opportunities/mistakes etc.
Anyway it was an exciting game with a respectable score of 14 - 12.

Chris Nicholson pitched the first two innings striking out 4 players, Jordan Edmonds catching a player out at 1B in the 1st and James Hamlin an unassisted out at 2B in the 2nd. Luke Sutton pitched in the third and struck two players out, Chris Nicholson catching an out at 3B. In the sixth innings Tim Moore playing as S/S passed to James Holden at 2nd for an out, then instigated a double play by catching the 2nd out and creating a double play with Jordan Edmonds at 1B. Perfect end to a well played game. Excellent base running by everyone.
Athletics report
The A’s really found their form on Saturday to keep their good run going. Superb pitching throughout the whole game from Guy Packham, Joe Taylor and Zack Chambers kept the Cubs quiet offensively. The game really changed in the 2nd inning when Guy Packham scored a 3 run home run followed up by Zack Chambers scoring a grand slam home run. As the game developed Rhyse Nash hit a double and a triple to keep the momentum going. Runs were also scored by Ben Chambers, Jacob Waller, Adam Gurcan and Harry Garman to seal a superb team performance. Credit to the Cubs for playing with tremendous spirit despite the 19 – 0 scoreline.
