RED SOX 13 METS 15
Mets Report:
Although the title had already been won, the next target was to complete the season with no losses, this put the pressure on the Mighty Mets in their last game of the season against the Red Sox. The game started with the Red Sox pulling a 4 - 0 lead in the first innings, but not to be outdone, the Mighty Mets fought back with 5 runs in each of the next 3 innings with the team pulling together in their usual fashion to silence the opposition with some outstanding performances on the field.
The game was one of the closest of the season in terms of abilities with both sides pulling off some amazing game play; however, the Mighty Mets achieved some amazing outs with 3.... YES 3 outs from balls plucked from the bat by the talented catchers, namely Big Chris, Podman and Smiffy, a feat not often seen at this level of play especially in one game.
The action followed thick and fast with fantastic plays from Zoomie, Spaniel and Shabs playing their favourite infield positions and seemingly reading each others minds with good steady outs, the outfield was manned by the big gloved Spreaders, Homezone, Gazelle, Hamster, JK and Ellz all fielding their best and stopping the Red Sox from grabbing too many runs from field balls.
The hard work has finally paid off for the Mets, as for many this is the third season as a team. At a disadvantage for the first 2 seasons from youth and size, the team, with this seasons new additions has now come of age and ability to confirm their rightful position at the top of the tree, a much deserved prize.
As coaches it is very easy to describe a team as the best ever, a phrase that is often issued easily and without conviction, however, in this case they really are the best and that's the truth, every catch and every run has been worked for and every success earned, mistakes have been made but never lingered on and the respect from team to coach is reciprocal. Thank you kids for making this season so enjoyable for us coaches and for being yourselves, never change!
On a final note, thanks to all of the parents and relatives for the constant support and encouragement throughout the season, it's fantastic and much appreciated.
All our thanks,
Coaches Steve, Rachael and Jo
Red Sox Report:
This was a great end to the season for the Red Sox even though the final result was Red Sox 13 Mets 15; the game was very close and exciting for everyone.
In the 1st innings, the Red Sox showed some great batting technique and made 4 runs. Ally Kirkman batted really well as did Will Irvine, Max Dodd and Dennon Uttley. Charlie Dineen was on form with some huge hits into the outfield. The Red Sox dismissed the Mets with no runs scored following two catches by Austin Harwood-Stamper in the Catchers position and a spectacular outfield catch by Harry Horwood (MVP for this game).
The Mets tightened up their fielding in the second innings and dismissed the Red Sox without scoring a run. Despite some outstanding play from Max Dodd and Zak Turnbull the Mets managed to score a maximum 5 runs when they batted.
The Red Sox battled back in the third innings scoring a maximum 5 runs which was equalled by the Mets even though a great play between Jake Turnbull and Austin Harwood-Stamper forced a runner out at home.
In the fourth innings the Red Sox tried hard to gain more runs with some good batting. The Mets retaliated with some very tight fielding and again dismissed the Red Sox without scoring. Again in this innings, although the Red Sox fielded well including a good play between Jake Harvey and Austin Harwood-Stamper at home plate to get one runner out they were unable to stop the Mets from scoring 5 runs.
As we went into the 5th and final innings the Red Sox had everything to play for. Batting first and needing to score at least 6 runs to make the Mets bat again, the Red Sox scored 4 great runs but were unable to score more which meant the Mets won the game 15-13. As it was the last game of the season and with plenty of time left the Mets and Red Sox wanted to finish the innings so the Mets went up to bat one last time and the Red Sox took to the field determined not to concede any more runs. With great play by the Red Sox team which included a brilliant play between Ally (3rd Base) and Charlie (1st base) and another "out" on 1st by Charlie, the Mets were dismissed without scoring a further run as the Red Sox managed three straight outs.
It was a great game and although we lost it was a good way to end what has been an exciting season.

Bottom of the 4th and the A’s batter’s are still on fire getting their 5 runs again with Callum Nash, Uilleam Lynch, Tom Johnston, Alex Reed and Sian Collinson getting the runs.
Top of the 5th and the A’s fielders keep the Cubs down to only 3 runs with Elliott Webster making a great catch at short stop for the first out and assisting Charlie Bonella at 2nd base for the second out. The third was from Tom Johnston beating the runner to home plate. Bottom of the 5th and with the A’s just 2 runs behind, Callum Oldmeadow hits a double to get Daniel Sampford and Toby Goddard home to tie the game up before the Cubs get the three outs.
An extra innings was needed to find a winner and at the top of the 6th the A’s fielder’s kick in to overdrive getting the Cubs out for zero. Will Anderson gets the first out at first base. Tom Johnston throws to Alex Reed at home for the second. Elliott Webster then gets a tag for the third out. Bottom of the 6th and things are looking tight with 0 runs and 2 outs but Sian Collinson gets a good strike, which allows Tom Johnston to get home and win the game with a final score of 19 -18.
Elliott Webster and Toby Goddard both had a really good game fielding, whilst Daniel Sampford and Callum Nash were superb in the batting. With this win the A’s secured the runner’s up spot in the league.

Mets Report:
The Mets Major league team went into their last game of the season knowing that three teams had a
chance to clinch the second place in this year’s league. Only a win and a wait for the other games result would do.
The first three innings were close with pitchers from both teams keeping the score down with Jordan Edmonds striking out 4 and Chris Nicholson striking out 2 and another in the fourth but
Adam Laker was doing a similar job for the Red Sox. The Mets went into the fourth innings one run ahead and managed another three runs by the end of the 5th innings with the runs being scored by Elliott Wallace, Luke Sutton, Chris Nicholson, Tim Moore and James Hamlin.
The Red Sox were stopped from scoring again by the Mets best defensive display of the season with
notable catches from James Holden and Max Lewis with a fly ball catch in centre field and outs from Adam Lamport at first base and fantastic pitching from Will Chase.
Jordan Edmonds made sure the Mets did not need to hit again in the sixth by taking a diving catch
well into foul territory, half way from first to home and then recovered to first base for a double play with the runner already on his way to second.
Second place was sealed with the days other result going the Mets way, with a tie in games won with the Cubs but the Mets had scored three more runs during the season.
